I Had An Eating Disorder

I was regularly told I was getting fat, letting my guard down, unattractive.....
Brought on by being told that I wasn't good enough. I was regularly told I was getting fat, letting my guard down, unattractive......
  • ​In my twenties, I dated who I thought was the love of my life. In fact, I was actually engaged to this man who at first made me feel special, but over time this man was able to gradually and cleverly keep me right where he wanted me to be in appearance. I didn't know it then, but my appearance was of great importance to him. So every so often I was given verbal negative taunts or he touched my thighs, bottom, tummy and would tease me with cruel words that left me feeling concerned, upset, unworthy....
  •  It was the 1980's and I had been told so often to "watch yourself because you're starting to get fat", that I actually believed him. I was devastated. Why couldn't I control my weight? I bought every diet book released, and tried them all. I exercised between 2 and 4 hours a day. My legs were getting bigger!! What was wrong with me?
  • ​The answer.... there was nothing wrong with me.
  • ​It took me another 6 years of heartache - starving myself, borderline anorexia, excessive and grueling exercise regimes, and two years of suffering silently with bulimia, before I was respected and loved for everything that I was.... for everything that I had lost over time. I was given permission to be me. I was given my life back - FREEDOM.
